Document Summary

Light: mirrors, lenses, the eye, photography, color, color perception, color mixing. Sound: waves, strings, pipes, harmony and musical scales, musical instruments. Diffusely reflected (scatter)- light goes off in all directions for non-polished objects. Specular reflection- the reflection that you see from a mirror. You have to be in a specific location to see the specific image. I is located behind the plane of the mirror. I and o are at the same distance (h) from the plane of the mirror. The mirror does not need to be in front of o, nor the observer. Virtual image- an image where no actual light rays cross. Light travels along straight lines in a uniform medium. Abrupt kinking of the light towards the normal--- refraction. Theta c = 49 degrees critical angle of total internal reflection. Angles beyond, you can not have any refraction. Snell"s law- how a ray of light behaves when it goes through the interface between two media.
