Power: the ability to impose one"s will on them by means of persuasion, coercion, rewards, expertise, formal authority, etc. Puts self-interests first can be used for selfish or selfless ends. Can be used to maintain power motivated to get/keep power; those without power are sometimes dissatisfied. If power is abused, revolts could arise as citizens unify resources to obtain power/power shift/change. Authority: power that has been defined in a legal or official way using power in this fashion is legal. Country: refers to a legally defined territory (a geographic term); however, state and nation refer to the political quantities. Nation: a group of people who identify with one another by at least one of the following: identity, unity, language, ethnicity, race, etc. ; they may or may not have a functioning government. The interest of the nation is not always the same as the state.
