Process is a running instance of the program.
Program is the actual written code.
Operating systems runs in kernel.
Context switch switches between the modes of kernel and user mode.
This is done for protection.
In user mode certain functions are restricted. Writing to and reading from memory, Input/output
operations are restricted in user mode.
Allows for frequent switching.
If there are two functions happening, kernel is unable to control both of them at once. Hence it is
controlled by user mode.

Bit rate - number of bits per second
Bandwidth -
Latency - the delay between time you send the data and time you receive the data
Network layers -
TCP/IP
Physical
Data Link
Network
Transport
Application
PDU - Protocol Data Unit
For transport layer is:
Segmentation - broken down into chunks
Adds a transport header layer
IPv4 - dotted decimal notation
Highest number is 255, lowest number is 0.
Unique to a network. Same IP address can be used in different networks.
IPv6 - dotted decimal notation; 4 segments.
128 bit hexadecimal numbers.
Computers, addresses all have a unique IP address
Network layer is the bigger picture.
Identify direction to send the data towards.
Mail going from Australia to America.
