The problems experienced in late life: quality and depth of sleep declines. Can be bias in that people experiencing problems or death drop out of the study, so results become relevant to healthy people only. Improvement in diet, medical care and education mean less elderly people suffering cog issues: but, cog disorders cost most than any other geriatric condition, dementia: deterioration of cog abilities, delirium: state of mental confusion. Dementia: progressive deterioration of cog abilities, functioning becomes impaired, dementia= umbrella term, many different types of dementia. If cog issues accompanied w/memory issues = amnestic mci, if not non-amnestic mci. Dsm-5 criteria for mild neurocognitive disorder: modest cog decline in one or more domains (e. g. complex attention, memory, language, executive function, social cog) based on both: Concerns of patient, close other or clinician.
