Intro: gyges finds a ring that allows him to disappear and uses it to seduce the queen. They then kill the king and gyges takes over the kingdom and enjoys great power and wealth (all because of the ring) Glaucon: can see no reason to live morally other than because society forces us to. Believes that as soon as society"s power is removed, people will do unjust actions. (relates this to gyges" story) Seen in people in government as they spy on people, discriminate against certain groups, etc. Although this can also be argued against (ex. People use the capabilities they have to pursue their own goals and values. The term moral is used in several different ways: Often refers to what a person, group, or society believes people should or should not do. May refer to a concept of objective right and wrong. Describing something as moral typically says that thing is good or is right.
