(80) A supporting sentence can be a fact, a definition, or an example, or a quotation. Every supporting sentence adds strength to the main idea of the paragraph or topic sentence. (85: the final sentence is the closing or concluding sentence that summarizes and ties all of the ideas contained in the paragraph together. The concluding sentence can be a reminder of what the main point of the paragraph was, or a restatement or paraphrasing of the topic sentence. (85)
