A country"s wealth has much to do with the amount of money spent on education. International differences in education systems solely a financial issue: value placed on education, amount of time devoted to it & distribution of education within a country also play a role in those differences. Ex. students in south korea spend 220 days/year in school, compared to the 190 days/year of their canadian counterparts. Issue of educational distribution within a nation: students in different countries perform differently in different skills. Issue of social factors: differences in educational expenditure between jurisdictions & in the socioeconomic background of students so great as to create large gaps in performance.
