Revolution: rapid and violent change in way of life, social structure and political institutions. Sociologists study the government and their strategies to direct behaviour/actions of others. Power relationships are strategic relationships between rulers and the ruled: e. x. parents - children, doctors - patients. Domination is when someone/something has power over us. Max weber: power is the chance to realize own will against others / to create new communities, domination is the chances but in structured forms. Politics: individuals give themselves conditions good life can be achieved. Nation state: political organization that shares culture under 1 government. Max weber: politics: striving to share power or influence distribution among group in state. Sovereignty: supreme lawmaking authority governs territory: sovereign state system: world divided into separate territories. Thomas hobbes: social order depends on unspoken contract between society and sovereign. Individuals give up natural rights to use violence and protect themselves: absolute monarchy: monarch has absolute power.
