Reform federal judiciary process between federalists and president. 1800 marked the defeat of the federalist and the election of thomas jefferson. The act giving john adams authority to appoint federalists justices to hold onto federalist party power. William marbury was appointed to be a justice of the peace by adams. Commision was not delivered until jefferson was in office. Jefferson refused to order james madison to deliver commission. Marbury filed an action in supreme court compelling the secretary of the state to compel the delivery of the commission"s. Constitution grants authority to the courts to deal with controversy. In conclusion, the court decided marbury was entitled to the commission and. Secretary of state madison was violating marbury"s rights.
