Motivation and behaviour is predicated based upon individual"s expected outcome and value placed on expected outcome. Human cognition and external stimuli (social pressure and experiences) The extent to which an individual feels they can perform a specific behaviour based upon their abilities and situation. 4 primary sources (high degree of influence to low: past performance accomplishments. Previously engaged in activity with some degree of success: vicarious experiences. Viewing performance of behaviour by another individual. The greater the similarity, the greater the influence. Imagery: a behaviour performed in the mind using some or all of body"s senses: social persuasion verbal and nonverbal tactics to increase self-efficacy.
