Non-associative forms of learning that allow you to orient towards stimuli and either respond more(sensitization) or respond less(habituation) Cat show a gradual decline across repeated trials. Human: once the correct answer is identified: the response time will permanently drop. Stamped in: a desired effect is strengthened and likely to occur again in that situation. Stamped out: unsatisfying effect is weakened and less likely to happen again in that situation. The strength is proportional to the consequences(satisfying or unsatisfying) of the response. The puzzle box acted as an occasion setter for many possible voluntary response problem solving behaviour. The more pairing there are between an operant response and its consequences, the stronger the acquired learning.
