25 views1 pages

Document Summary

The constitution is the framework for the organization and exercise of government power in our country. If any act / statute contravenes or is inconsistent with the constitution then that statute is invalid (s 52(1)) It is much harder to amend the constitution than it is to amend a statute (ss 38-45) It is more difficult to amend the constitution than any other legislation. Since the fact that all laws are made off the charter, so to change the constitution it means every law that follows under and is effected by it, it will have to be changed. It will have to get the queen to sign it, making it very difficult to get it signed. It also is the frame work for how the government works. Trudeau wants to amend the constitution on how we vote and how senates are elected.
