Sexual orientation refers to an individual"s tendency to be attracted to men and/or women. Affectional orientation=the interaction between affect and cognition such that it produces attraction, erotic desire, and ultimately feelings of love for members of the other sex, the same sex, or both. Heterosexual orientation=an affectional orientation where affect and cognition are exclusively directed at members of the other sex. Same-sex orientation=an affectional orientation where affect and cognition are exclusively directed at members of the same sex. Bisexual orientations=an affectional orientation where affect and cognition are directed at members of both sexes, to one extent or another. The kinsey scale offers operational definitions of sexual orientation that range from exclusively heterosexual (a score of 0) to exclusively homosexual ( a score of 6). The klein sexual orientation grid includes measures of 7 components: sexual attraction, sexual behaviour, sexual fantasies, emotional preference, social preference, self- identification, and heterosexual/homosexual lifestyle.
