Refusing to consider contrary evidence reduces likelihood of forming accurate beliefs. Authority - involves relying on other ppl as our source of knowledge & beliefs & is pervasive throughout our life. In childhood, we rely on parents, other caregivers, etc for all sorts of knowledge.
