Rutter and giller (1984) suggest that criminal parents provide a model of aggression and antisocial attitudes. Family violence is also learned at home a high proportion of abusive parent were abused themselves. Abusive parents also contribute to motivation towards delinquency many kids who end up on the street are attempting to escape violence at home. But once they are on the street, their need for food, shelter, and money leads to delinquency. Children"s performance in school is constantly being judged. Those who succeed enjoy the satisfaction of teachers, classmates, and parents. Their positive experience of school plays a major role in their conformity. Those who fail may feel they have been rejected by the adult world as well as their peers. This feeling of rejections makes these kids more likely to become involved in delinquency. The school has taken over many of the occupational socialization functions that used to be performed by family.
