Communication : systemic process (relates to a system) where individuals interact with and through symbols to create and interoperate meanings, communication is a a system. It"s important to find meaning, but there are multiple ways of knowing and understanding a situation or framing a message. Meaning is constructed by different groups and people, and there"s not one way to understand something. Why do we study communications and why is it relevant: personal impact, relationship impact, the cultural impact, the professional impact. We learn how we build connections with others (ex: Being a citizen and contributing part of democracy. : all fields use and need communication and it"s. Messages we send ourselves with making decisions and choosing paths. The mishaps when there"s not a common understanding: group or team communication. Very complex and many components (not as formal as organizational: public communication (ex: prof and class/politicians)
