Emotion: an intrapersonal state that occurs in response to either an external or an internal event and typically involves 3 components: 1. physiological component: changes in bodily arousal; increased heart rate, body temp, respiration autonomic nervous system sympathetic ns: ght or ight, arouses body in situations of anxiety/ danger parasympathetic ns: calms body down, returns body to its normal state. 2. cognitive: the subjective appraisal and interpretation of one"s feelings and one"s surrounding environment evaluative thoughts people have about emotional experiences ( i am afraid ) ex.
