Document Summary
In 1999, 4 police officers kill a harmless black man on the bronx streets because they claim he was behaving suspiciously. Police shot him because they thought he was reaching into his pocket to grab a gun, he was actually unarmed. Amadou diallo was proven to be a kind, studious and law abiding citizen who was simply running from 4 ununiformed men who were shouting at him and cornering him. The 4 officers were granted not guilty but there was an uproar in new york about the concept of prejudice. Over 80% of new york african americans believe he wouldn"t have been killed if he was white. Implicit processes: comprise our unconscious thought; they are intuitive, automatic, effortless, very fast, and operate largely outside of our intentional control.
