A group occurs when two or more people perceive the other to be members of the same social category, or common fates, or interdependence, coexist. E. g. shoppers in a shop are not a group, is a disaster happens and they are escaping together, then they are a group. E. g. audiences are not a group but if they are supporting the same team then yes. Because everyone expect others to pay more tip. Which is why some restaurants have mandatory tips for larger groups. Groups cause shifts in attitudes, norms and motivations. E. g. lower self-determined motivation of a language learner perceiving themselves as being criticized by the member of the other language group. Cyclist ride faster in the presence of others. E. g. children winding fish strings faster in the presence of other children. Presence of others increases physiological arousal increases dominant tendency. Which is correct on those easier and more familiar tasks.
