Studies cannot be falsified: focus primarily on rem sleep, where dreams are most common and complex. Suggests that dreams arise from brain activity originating from bursts of excitatory messages from pons: eye movements and patterns in eeg activity during rem, stimulates occipital and temporal loves. Synthesis components arises from diff. regions of the cortex; tries to make sense of all the images, sounds, emotions and memories: frontal lobes play key role in synthesis process.
