Document Summary

From birth to age 4, the brain grows and develops rapidly. Language centers in the brain begin to mature. Neural pruning occurs where unused neural connections are eliminated. Logic, reasoning, and emotional maturity (prefrontal cortex) is still not developed. Reason why children get overwhelmed, make impulsive decisions. Parietal lobes mature, allowing for comprehension of math and geometry. Prefrontal cortex begins to mature, stimulating improved maturity, judgement and reasoning skills. Limbic system increases emotions, prefrontal cortex is still not fully developed to interpret and deal with these emotions. Further neural pruning occurs, resulting in a more efficient brain. Prefrontal cortex matures, allowing abstract thought, self control etc. Final brain maturity results in advanced emotional maturity, decision making, self control etc. Still room for maturation of emotions throughout adulthood. In 1966 in romania, birth control and abortion were outlawed in attempt to increase the countries population.
