Document Summary
Psychology is the science of behaviour and the mind. Behaviour refers to the observable actions of a person or and animal. Mind refers to an individual"s sensations, perceptions, memories, thoughts, dreams, motives, emotions and other subjective experiences. Science: attempts to answer questions through the systematic collection and logical analysis objectively observable data. Dualism: a material body and a immaterial soul body is part of the natural world and can be studied scientifically. Before descartes, dualists thought qualities or human were from their soul. He suggested that the body was an machine that could move by itself without the soul. Defined thoughts as conscious deliveration and judgment. Believed that thoughts formed through the body (sensory input of body) Soul acts on the body in a specific location. Not popular because a nonmaterial entity (soul) can"t have an impact on a material effect (movement of the body)
