Personality disorder- it is a persistent pattern of emotions, cognitions, and behaviour that results in enduring emotional distress for the person affected for others and may cause difficulties with work and relationships. They believe that people are out there to harm or trick them. Excessively distrustful and suspicious of others without any justification. Having this disorder increases the risk of suicide attempts and violent. They have grudges (unforgiving of insults, injuries, or slights) behaviour. They may be argumentative, may complain, or may be quiet, but hostile towards others. Has recurrent suspicions, without justification, regarding fidelity of spouse or sexual partner. Difference between paranoid type of schizophrenia and paranoid personality disorder: do not include hallucinations like paranoid type of schizophrenia, their suspicions do not reach delusional proportions. Treatment: first step is to build a therapeutic alliance, provide an atmosphere conducive to developing a sense of trust, cognitive therapy, schizoid personality disorder.
