Sexual signals: one of the indicators of sexual availability in primate females is sexual swelling. It is also true for the menstrual cycle for the human female: females seek males with the best genes at times that correspond with their greatest probability of becoming pregnant. The women preferred the single men whose faces were masculine. Infants born at the same time from a number of mothers are healthier and survive better until weaning than one infant born alone safety in numbers. Ensuring paternity: sexual relations with a female will alter the male"s behaviour toward her offspring, to ensure that a female"s offspring is their own, males may actually kill the mother"s unweaned infants they kill offspring of others. Sexual strategies theory: sexual strategies theory was developed by buss and schmitt, the idea is that males and females have evolved a variety of mating strategies, especially in terms of the perceived length of the relationship.
