Systematic approach: organ systems studied independently; understand continuity of systems, better in certain learning situations (ie. cadaver) Regional approach: all structures of 1 region studied together as a group; better if combined with cadaver. Median/midsagittal plane: divide into symmetrical left + right halves. Ipsilateral: on the same side: contralateral: on the opp side, external: outside body cavity, palm: anterior aspect of hand, dorsum: posterior aspect of hand/ foot, sole/ plantar: inferior aspect of foot. Body organization: name main body systems and indicate their major components and functions, human body- organ systems/ body system, organ system- coordinated organs. Organ- combination of tissues: tissue- similar morphology + function of cells, cell- smallest structural + functional unit of living organism. 2 parts: central nervous system: brain + spinal cord, peripheral nervous system: spinal + cranial nerves + associated ganglia, collect + process info, regulate function of other systems, muscular system, skeletal muscles + tendons.
