Global politics ) emerged as a discipline following ww1. Initial focus on the causes of war and conditions of peace. The discipline has since broadened to include political, social, and economic factors. Also includes a range of non-state actors (ngos, mncs, organized crime and terrorist groups) World politics is replacing international relations but the narrower concept is still useful. Although the distinctions between ir and other fields of political science are often difficult to maintain, ir is generally treated as a specialised area of study, if not a separate discipline. Ir terminology is a complex of overlapping terms. However, international relations , world politics , and global politics all have different nuances. Typically used to refer to the entire world. Allows for a larger sense of community (cosmopolitanism) and larger ethical order. State - a formally constituted, sovereign political structure encompassing people, territory and institution.
