Incentives: a positive or negative environmental stimuli that lure or repel us! Human motivation doesn"t aim to eliminate arousal (drive-reduction theory), but to seek for optimum levels of arousal. Yerkes-dodson law: moderate arousal leads to optimal performance! Self-transcedence needs: ppl strive meaning & purpose beyond the self! Self-actualized person: ppl seek to realize their own potential, ! Critiques: order of such need is not universally xe (culturally biased)! Glucose: when u eat, the stomach breaks down sugar (makes sugar)! Increase in insulin (converts sugar to fat): diminishes blood glucose (convert to store fat)! Hypothalamus: keeps track of the amount of sugar in system! Ghrelin: hunger-arousing hormone secreted (produce) by an empty stomach. Leptin: regulates body fat amounts through regulation of hunger!
