Excluded people from either a live or an internet chat room conversation. Those who were ignored felt hurt, angry and alone: imaging studies. Some of the same brain regions that are active when one feels physical pain are also active when they feel excluded. Also brain regions that are activated when one feels the pain of a bad betting decision. Conforming by altering private beliefs as well as public behaviour.
