15. 14 the eye has a layered wall; it is hollow, with fluid-filled anterior and posterior. The wall of the eye has three layers, formerly called tunics. The fibrous layer, the outermost layer of the eye, consists of the cornea and the white sclera. These two components are continuous, and the border between the two is called the corneal limbus. The fibrous layer (1) supports and protects, (2) is an attachment site for the extrinsic eye muscles, and (3) contains the transparent cornea. Light first enters the eye through the cornea; its curvature aids in the focusing process. The vascular layer, or uvea, contains numerous blood vessels, lymphatic vessels, and the intrinsic (smooth) muscle of the eye. Choroid controlling the shape of the lens, an essential part of the focusing process. The coloured iris is visible through the transparent corneal surface. It contain blood vessels, pigment cells, and layers of smooth muscle fibers.
