Chat room: a web page using chat software to display typed messages in real time. Anyone can see a public chat room or print a transcript of the chat. The chat may also be logged and archived by the chat site. Most cases police use where they try and catch pedophiles online are thrown out because you aren"t allowed to record a conversation unless both parties consent to it. One was allowed because there was a disclaimer by the site saying some conversations may be recorded. Quiet period: from the time a company files a registration statement with the sec for a public offering until the sec declares the registration effective. This concern has forced companies to monitor e-mail. Shoars vs. epson: everyone was told e-mail wasn"t being read, boss was reading them, he didn"t want to keep quiet and was fired, sued for wrongful termination.
