The illbert bill controversy: it wanted to give the right to indian judges in civil court to try the british criminals, which was not possible at that time. Led to so much controversy against the people living in indian (english) New alliance was formed just not by laisez faire, by setting legislative councils and expanding representation. Borrowed ideas of the darbars from the mughal emperor, was done in a public assemblies, where the emperor presented himself to the public with presentations.
