Document Summary

Today, the global marketplace is home to some of the largest international- focused business organizations in many sectors. Several of these companies generate revenues that exceed the gdp of some countries. In addition, we are also seeing a number of companies from developing countries compete on the international stage as they seek access to the global marketplace. Many small and medium size businesses are also expanding beyond local, regional, and national borders to become players in the global market. Whether it is through operational growth, strategic alliances, formal partnerships, mergers, or acquisitions, the global marketplace is becoming home to an increasing number of businesses seeking to operate via an international-based business model. As domestic markets become saturated, organizations will begin to look beyond their current countries and markets in an effort to discover and leverage new markets for the products and services they offer.
