Lewis- the political nature of islam is because of lack of secularism and lack of democracy. Ahmet- he uses three points to attack lewis"s argument 1) secularism is not needed for a democracy. 2) islam is not a political religion 3) 20 out of 46 muslim countries are secular. Lewis- defines what democracy is and what islam is. He looked at the history of islam, and then looked at the tradition (hadith). He also examined the influence of the west in. Islam"s democracy; they found themselves the target of conquest and colonization, He also did a general classification of the regimes (governments), he included 5 categories. Ahmet- he did a qualitative and quantitative analysis of actual cases.
