Social interaction: involves communication among people acting and reacting to one another. Feminist sociologists are sensitive to gender differences in social interactions, they see that that gender often structures interaction patterns. Laughter is often as sign of who has higher or lower status. A norm is a generally accepted way of doing things. Status, roles and norms structure other emotions, although it is not apparent. Emotions don"t just happen to us, we mange them. When people manage their emotions, they usually follow certain cultural scripts. Emotional management: involves people obeying feeling rules and responding appropriately to the situations in which they find themselves. Emotional management = everyone does this in everyday life (the act of obeying feeling rules and responding appropriately to situations) Emotional labour = people do as part of their job and which they are paid. Emotional labour: carefully manage their own emotions while trying to keep their clientele happy and orderly.
