Community as a territorial concept: community is something we can locate on a map, spatial properties: borders, a center, and outskirts, has a name and a set of symbols associated with it. Community as a relational concept friendship, association, or mutual support: people who are tied together by webs of communication, constitute a meaningful, self-aware collectivity, boundaries are blurry connected through network. Some considerable # of shared meanings are recognized by the members of any collectivity we would call a community. Shared moral order to be fundamental for producing people"s sense of belonging to a community culture is the tie that binds. Flourishing of epic poetry, for shared wisdom can be encoded in poetic rhythms and figures of speech as an aid to memory. Support a small-scale, undifferentiated social order in which people think, do, and believe much the same thing. Cultures of families, friendships, and neighborhoods are primarily oral.
