Structure of schools cannot be studies without consideration of individuals role in society. There is a socialization process into the role of a student by looking at organizational structure of classes and the teachers. Education is secondary institution - serves society by socializing people into it through standard procedure. Durkheim - education"s job is to develop physical, intellectual and moral states within that are demanded by society as a whole. Way in which society recreates its conditions of existence. Wilbur brookover - education is synonymous with socialization because it allows societies and future generations to excel. Primary institutions - economy, political system and the army. Schools have now become large bureaucracies run by specially trained and certified people. School system becomes unit in structure by members and within this structure a portion of total socialization process occurs. Kindergarten only now recently started to prepare children for school. Prepare children behaviorally and emotionally for next 12 years in schools.
