Document Summary

Remarriage- the marriage that takes place after a previous marriage has ended. As the divorce rate increases, so does remarriage. Stepfamily- refers to a family where the children are related to one parent but not the other. Each married spouse and no other children. One married spouse and at least one other biological or adopted child of the couple. Each married spouse and at least one other biological or adopted child of the couple. Over the years simple stepfams have declined and complex have grown, and this is because of the increase in the number in which parents have kids together. Fewer divorced parents with children plan to remarry, and the intention to remarry decreases with age. Step family parents are more likely to be in common law. Parents in stepfams are more active in the labour force. Three distinct stages in establishing a second marriage: entering the new relationship, planning the new marriage, and family, forming the remarriage family.
