Critical thinking emphasizes objectivity, the importance of recognizing bias, and other factors that affect the validity of information. Critical thinking involves judgment based on evaluation of multiple perspectives and evidence weighed against criteria. Critical thinking and engineering design process have notable similarities: The critical thinker considers a problem from multiple perspectives. The engineer considers from the multiple perspectives of stakeholders. A system that has many interacting parts, which can be modelled. The behaviour of complicated systems can be predicted accurately with suf ciently powerful modelling, in contrast to complex systems in which modelling, particularly modelling behaviour far in advance, is not possible. A system in which a variety of parameters interact to create events that are not perfectly predictable or may not be fully anticipated.
