Chapter 4 scenes from the life of a police officer. Police officers most readily identifiable professionals in the criminal justice system, thus can attract strong views from the public (ex. more chance to contact with police than judges) Uniformed patrol officer is typically the first to attend at the scene of an incident types of people (five different people react in five entirely different way) Have to be prepared to be mediators, counsellors, peacekeepers, and enforcers. Although they do have an ever-increasing amount of time spent on paperwork and red tape, much work involves dealing with the people in the communities.
