Western marxism: refers to independent/more critical forms of marxism. Violent corrections to maintain society: hegemony. Society"s dominant ideas form reflections into the class system and make up social inequalities. State: governmental structures concerning law, police, and army. Civil society: schools, media, religion, trade unions, and cultural associations. 1st wave feminism: woman have the right to vote after wwi. 2nd wave feminism: in the 1960"s, woman recognized now as a group. Ruling: the exercise of power that shapes people"s actions. Woman rights are now classified as white, middle-class, straight woman. 3rd wave looks at more into race in feminism and how it is then broken up because of that. Truth (or fact) can always be separated from a power. To know the truth, you can then exercise power: example: using fact or truth against someone, example: doctors hold truths and use that to exert power (by diagnosing you)
