Document Summary
Fatigue and depression predict reduced health-related quality of life in childhood- Donelly, c. , cunningham, n. , jones, j. t. , ji, l. , brunner, h. i. , & kashikar-zuck, s. (2017). Fatigue and depression predict reduced health-related quality of life in childhood-onset lupus. Lupus, 27(1), 124-133. doi: 10. 1177/0961203317716317 (donelly et al. , 2017) Csle is chronic condition that can significantly influence the psychosocial development of a child. Health-related quality of life (hrqol) encompasses physical, psychological and social functioning domains (donelly et al. , 2017, pp. 124) Child emotional problems have emerged as hrqol correlates have potential to be an intervention. Research shows that sle is associated with a decreased hrqol through measures of disease activity and organ damage. A subgroup of patients with csle reported significant fatigue, pain, and anxiety which negatively impacted their hrqol even during a period of controlled disease activity. Screening to evaluate hrqol in patients with csle is uncommon within clinical care. Therefore these children are not being identified.
