Document Summary
People must love occupation and wage because they must love their job and its consequences. Most think differently: you must pursue what has the highest reward. Glacucon: if just and unjust had freedom to do whatever they wanted, the just person would travel the same road as unjust - being unjust themselves. Justice gives one a reputation of honor and rewards - only act just to get. Has consequences but is more for one"s own sake. Greatest need of city is for it to provide food in order for existence and life. We are not born alike; we each have traits suited for a different job. Better goods are produced if one does the job they are suited to do. Some people are servants who do not qualify for membership in community (inequality!) Structure: no more children than needed, will make goods - poverty = war. Gods cannot be painted in bad way.
