Document Summary

Solar system is located on a remote, trailing edge of the milky way. Galaxy - a flattened, disk-shaped mass in the form of a barred-spiral. Solar system is embedded more than halfway out from the galactic centre in one of the milky way"s spiral arms: the orion spur of the sagittarius arm. Composition: 8 plants, 4 dwarf planets & asteroids. Solar system condensed from a large slowly rotating & collapsing cloud of dust & gas called a nebula. Gravity - the mutual attraction exerted by the mass of an object upon all other objects: key force in this condensing solar nebula. As the nebular cloud organized & flattened into a disk shape, the early photosun grew in mass at the centre, drawing more matter into it. Protoplanets were the small accretion (accumulation) eddies swirled at varying distances from the centre of solar nebula.
