Ella was developing normally until onset of rs at 2 years. Development came to a halt: stage ii of rs. Lost motor functions in hand and retreated to private world. After a few months, she became stable (stage iii) Tried to make contact through touch, staring into eyes, and vocalizing. Focus was to gather info about ella"s functional and physical disabilities. Initial assessment was during group mt, showed emotional and communicative expressiveness and investment. Ella played guitar and drums and danced at times. Could play piano and strum guitar but could not manage to hold the mallet. Purpose of individual sessions was to provide ella with space in which she could find. Song choice to build personal autonomy and communication: Ella presented with choice of different familiar and unfamiliar songs. Enjoyed trying new songs but also returning to old ones. Preferred songs with faster tempi and greater variability in rhythm, dynamics, and melody.
