The romantic rebellion was a widespread movement against aspects of the industrial revolution and elements of modern thought (though it built upon these movements as well), which was one major source of the environmental movement. The artistic and poetic re-casting of nature is emphasized in rousseau, Wordsworth, blake and others, and forms some of the main roots of modern environmental thought. The arrival of modernity, and a return to the first lecture themes: the crisis involving human powers capable of threatening earth systems, and the prospect of managing the earth . Counter-cosmology is the persistence of both cosmologies the official line, and the romantic line that is essential to understanding how the myths and images of the modern world work, and especially modern environmentalism. Human resources are workers who have lost their humanity. Worker, by definition, are gears in the machine. Fall of man is a tragic moment in human history against which they rebelled.
