The prevalence of gambling among youth is considered a cause for concern for a variety of reasons. Leiseur describes four fundamental problems of the medical model: reifies the concept of disease, implies behavioural determinism and undermines individual control, ignores social factors, not value-neutral as it promotes the worthiness of work. The internet not only increases accessibility to gambling but is extremely conductive to fast and repeated playing. Sites rely on credit card information, which they now do fraud. Internet gambling also deprives government and social of potential revenues and jobs that are associated by traditional forms of gambling. Risk factors include physiological (substance deficiencies), psychological (low self- esteem), sociological (gambling friends) features.
