Document Summary
Motivation related to study of processes involved in goal- directed behaviour and is associated with certain emotions. Motives are wants, needs , interests, desires that propel people in certain direction and to achieve goals. Motivation to achieve relevant goals is an important determinant of adjustment. Emphasizes how internal states of tension push people in a certain way. Homeostasis- a state of physiological equilibrium/ stability, to behaviour. Drive- an internal state of tension that motivates an organism to engage in activities that should reduce the tension. If you go without food you experience discomfort. The internal tension (the drive to want to eat) motivates you tp get food. Eating reduces the drive and goes to equilibrium) Motivation may exist without drive arousal (wanting ice cream but not hungry)
