Criminal acts can be grouped into 5 categories. Violent crimes, property crime, public order crime, white collar crime, and organized crime. Aka intent of suspect, whether a weapon was used, level of pain of victim. Property crime- most common type of criminal activity in which the offender"s goal is some form of economic gain or damage of property. Defined as breaking and entering a dwelling with the intent to commit a crime. The unlawful taking and carrying away if someone else"s personal property with the intent to permanently deprive the owner of possession. Form of theft that involves trickery or fraud. Petty theft is the theft of a small quantity of cash or low value goods. Grand theft is the theft of a larger amount of cash or higher value property. Can"t receive goods you know are stolen. Doesn"t need to know the owner or their, or have paid for the goods.
