Law is involved in nearly everything we do (i. e. negotiating a deal contract law, voting, investing, being a juror, being part of local community groups, etc. all involves the law) Law is essential every society has had some system of rules. Our legal system is largely based on the english model. Federalism (p. 3) two levels of government, each with specified powers. There"s really no true law; principles and rules of law come from many different sources. We also have different laws in different states because of how the founding. Fathers set up the country; ffs also gave many rights to the people and ordered the national and state gov"t away from individual rights. Shire reeve sheriff; would keep the peace, provide mediation. Would hold court 2-3 times a year; lower courts were held more often. Freemen, tithing and tithingmen provided the idea of community accountability and liability.
