Document Summary

7. 1 classical conditioning: one thing leads to another. Paired new cs, black square with the tone, dog produced salivary response to black square even though it was directly associated with food. Ex: money extinction: the gradual elimination of a learned response that occurs when the cs is repeatedly presented without the us. Conditioned response extinguished when cs(tone) still present but stopped presenting. In operant conditioning reinforcements only occur when proper response, even then doesn"t always occur spontaneous recovery: tendency of a learned behavior to recover from extinction after a rest period. Spontaneous recovery of cr (animal learn to associate food with sound) even takes place after rest generalization: the cr is observed even though the cs is slightly different from the cs used during acquisition. Conditioning generalizes to stimuli that are similar to the cs used during the original training, more the new stimulus changes, less conditioned responding is observed.
